{"id":18,"date":"2013-08-04T02:03:01","date_gmt":"2013-08-04T02:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastingmomentsgallery.com\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2013-08-09T12:58:12","modified_gmt":"2013-08-09T12:58:12","slug":"about-me","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lastingmomentsgallery.com\/?page_id=18","title":{"rendered":"About Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Alpenglow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may have experienced it. \u00a0This is the time of day when the earth seems most calm and peaceful. \u00a0It&#8217;s a cherished time of day, only for those seeking that special moment. \u00a0The light is soft, almost orange as the sun crosses the horizon, blue light is filtered, leaving the earth in it&#8217;s most natural state. \u00a0This is the time when I feel most alive. \u00a0The dogs certainly know this as well. \u00a0Credit is due to them for offering me the tenacity to push forward when the bed is so warm and soft.<\/p>\n<p>The time &#8211; 3 A.M. \u00a0The temperature &#8211; I don&#8217;t really want to know. \u00a0I can see frost on the porch railing as I brew my tea for today&#8217;s trek. \u00a0I&#8217;d better grab a muffler and wool gloves. \u00a0The dogs always seem to know that I&#8217;m going and what I will endure. \u00a0They beg me to go. \u00a0I can only find one remnant of \u00a0hope&#8230; the alpenglow.<\/p>\n<p>Only thirty minutes to the entrance of the park. Peter, the park ranger, gives me a nod as I slowly pass. \u00a0I tip my hat to him. \u00a0The sheer sight \u00a0of my vehicle at this ungodly hour explains the look on his face as an uncommon occurrence \u00a0at the ranger station. \u00a0The thought strikes me, &#8220;Am I nuts?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A headlamp is still in order. There are 30 pounds of camera gear on my back. \u00a0I make sure the bear bell is attached to my back pack. \u00a0I just focus on the anticipation of \u00a0alpenglow as a way to get me through the next 4 miles of uphill starting at an altitude of 10,00 feet. \u00a0There are only stars and a sliver of moon to light my way.<\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time! \u00a0Just 1\/8 of a second shutter click and the moment&#8217;s gone. \u00a0SUCCESS!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve taken you on this journey with me. \u00a0Although we have not met, we share the search for alpenglow. \u00a0It is with the grace of God&#8217;s hand that I live in Estes Park, Colorado, the doorstep of the Rocky Mountain National Park.<\/p>\n<p>Cameras and photography equipment have evolved significantly since I started my journey into photography in 1978. \u00a0One thing remains the same. \u00a0My photographs are more than an image.
